Etosha National Park

Editorial Policy

etoshanationalpark.com.na is operated by Alux Travel, an independent Etosha National Park planning resource. This page sets out the editorial principles, sourcing standards, and accountability practices that govern every guide and article published on the site.

Independence and Sources of Funding

Alux Travel is an independent operator. We are not affiliated with, owned by, or paid by Namibia Wildlife Resorts (NWR), the Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism (MEFT), or any single lodge group. The site earns revenue through paid trip planning support that visitors specifically request via our contact channels — never through hidden affiliate links or pay-for-coverage arrangements.

Source Standards

  • Park rules and operational data: verified against the Namibia Wildlife Resorts published rate sheets, gate opening hours, and park information notices.
  • Wildlife and conservation data: sourced from the Etosha Ecological Institute (EEI), peer-reviewed conservation research, and recognised authorities including IUCN Red List, BirdLife International, and Save the Rhino International.
  • Historical claims: referenced against documented colonial administration records (Ordinance 88 of 1907, Ordinance 19 of 1967) and recognised academic histories of Namibia.
  • Trip experience details: based on the first-hand visits of our planning team and feedback from past travellers we have helped plan trips for. Specific waterhole sightings or camp conditions reflect a particular trip and may vary by season.
  • Pricing references: reflect publicly available NWR rates and lodge published rates at time of publication. Always confirm current pricing directly with the operator before booking.

Author Identity and Expertise

Articles are produced by the Alux Travel planning team. Each guide is reviewed by a team member who has personally visited the area, route, or facility being described. Where a specific contributor has authored a piece, they will be named in a byline and linked to a contributor page setting out their experience, credentials, and other published work.

Updates and Currency

  • Every guide carries a “last updated” date.
  • Guides are reviewed at least annually for ongoing accuracy.
  • Time-sensitive information (gate hours, fees, lodge rates) is reviewed quarterly.
  • Major operational changes (new gates, camp openings, route closures) are reflected within two weeks of confirmation.

Corrections Policy

We make mistakes. When we do, we correct them visibly. Our corrections page logs every substantive correction made to a published article, dated and described. Minor copy edits (typos, broken links) are made without a log entry.

Sponsored Content and Disclosure

  • We do not publish sponsored content disguised as editorial.
  • If a piece is sponsored, paid, or written in partnership with a commercial entity, it is clearly labelled at the top of the article with the partner identified.
  • Affiliate links, where used, are disclosed in line with the article and never inserted retroactively.
  • We do not accept payment for favourable lodge reviews or removal of negative information.

Contact for Editorial Concerns

To request a correction, suggest a source, or raise an editorial concern, email bookings@etoshanationalpark.com.na with the article URL and the issue. We respond to editorial concerns within five working days.
