- From: NAD 2,322.50 per person sharing, dinner, bed & breakfast (low season 2026); camping from NAD 325 per adult

Etosha Village is a 55-unit lodge and campsite run by the Taleni Africa group, set in mopane forest on a private reserve directly against Etosha’s southern boundary. Andersson’s Gate is 2 km up the C38, closer than any other lodge on this side of the park.
That location is the whole point. Okaukuejo and its floodlit waterhole sit a short drive beyond the gate, so guests here spend their fuel and daylight inside the park rather than getting to it, at roughly half the price of the boundary reserves.
Why stay at Etosha Village
- Closest lodge to Andersson’s Gate. At 2 km, you reach the gate in minutes and can queue at opening time without a pre-dawn drive.
- Honest mid-range pricing. From NAD 2,322.50 per person sharing on dinner, bed and breakfast, VAT and tourism levy included, with no separate conservation levy.
- Genuinely family-friendly. Up to two children under 12 stay free when sharing with two paying adults; only their meals are charged, and under-5s eat free too.
- A campsite as well as rooms. Camping at NAD 325 per adult lets mixed groups — some in units, some under canvas — stay on one property.
Accommodation at Etosha Village
The 55 units each have a spacious air-conditioned bedroom, a modern en-suite bathroom with shower, and a patio with outside seating and private parking at the door. Twin-bedded units with sleeper couches take the two free-staying children, which is how most families use them.
The campsite sits in the mopane forest nearby and takes both individual travellers and groups, with a two-adult minimum per site. Campers use the lodge’s bar, shop and pools, so this is camping with a full lodge behind it.
Meals, pools and the waterhole area
Meals are buffet-style across three restaurant seating areas, with breakfast and dinner included on the standard rate; à-la-carte pricing is published for anyone camping or skipping the board basis (breakfast NAD 190, dinner NAD 435, lunch pack NAD 145). Boma dinners under the open sky run on selected evenings.
There is one large pool and two children’s pools, a bar with a big-screen television, a coffee and tea station, a utility and curio shop, and a waterhole viewing area on the reserve for quiet hours between park drives.
Activities from Etosha Village
The lodge runs guided morning and full-day game drives into Etosha through Andersson’s Gate, which suits fly-in guests and anyone wanting a guide’s eyes for a day. Most guests, though, self-drive: the gate is close enough that two park sessions a day are realistic.
On the reserve itself there are walking trails with lookout decks and hides, sundowner drives and stargazing sessions, so afternoons between park visits are covered without leaving the property.

Who Etosha Village suits
Families first. The two-kids-free policy, the children’s pools and the buffet format make this one of the cheapest ways for four people to sleep comfortably beside Etosha, and the short gate run keeps young passengers sane.
It also fits self-drivers on a budget who still want air-conditioning and a cooked dinner, and campers who like facilities within reach. Honeymooners after seclusion or photographers after a private hide should look at the boundary reserves instead; this is a sociable, busy lodge in high season.
Getting to Etosha Village
From Windhoek, drive the B1 north to Otjiwarongo, then the C38 through Outjo towards Etosha; the lodge is on the C38 about 2 km before Andersson’s Gate, roughly 400 km and tarred the whole way. Watch for the signposted entrance on the approach to the gate.
Coming from the east through the park, exit at Andersson’s Gate and the lodge is minutes further on. Gate hours and entry paperwork are covered in our park gates guide.
Frequently asked questions about Etosha Village
How far is Etosha Village from Andersson’s Gate?
2 km, on the C38. It is the closest lodge to Etosha’s main southern entrance, and Okaukuejo with its floodlit waterhole is a short drive inside the gate.
Do children really stay free?
Yes — up to two children under 12 sharing a unit with two full-paying adults are accommodated free. You pay only their meals: free for ages 0–4, 50% of the meal rate for ages 5–11, full rates from age 12.
What board basis is included?
Standard rates are dinner, bed and breakfast. Lunch packs (NAD 145) can be added for full days in the park, and campers can buy any meal à la carte in the restaurant.
Can I combine Etosha Village with camps inside the park?
Easily, and we recommend it: a common pattern is one or two nights here for the southern section, then Halali or Namutoni as you move east. We hold both bookings on one itinerary.
How far ahead should I book?
For July to November, book 6 to 9 months out; with 55 units it has more give than the small lodges, but school-holiday and festive dates (24–25 and 31 December are charged at high season) still fill early.
