This page exists because “Etosha specials” is a search full of disappointment: pages advertising discounts that expired years ago, and “deals” that are just rack rates with a red banner. We would rather tell you the truth: right now there is no live special — and when there is one, this page and the people on our notify list will know first. This status line is dated, and we update it; if you ever find it stale, tell us and we will fix it, publicly, like everything else on this site.
The discounts that always exist (no promotion required)
- Your passport is the biggest “special” in Etosha. SADC nationals pay NAD 180 per adult per day at the gate instead of the international NAD 280 — a permanent 36% saving no promo code will ever beat. SADC children (9–15) pay NAD 100; all under-8s enter free. Details on our gate fees page.
- Real seasonal price gaps. NWR’s in-park rooms drop meaningfully outside the July–October peak — Okaukuejo’s double room, for example, is NAD 1,900 low season against NAD 2,380 high on the verified 2026–27 rate card — and most private lodges publish shoulder-season rates around 5–10% below high season. November to April is when the same trip simply costs less.
- Children’s and family structures. Some lodges quietly out-discount any special for families — Okutala’s half price for ages 4–12 on accommodation, tours and meals, or Mushara Bush Camp’s NAD 1,400 child rate. Ask us to run the family arithmetic before you chase a “deal”.
- Long-stay structures. A few properties publish them permanently — Epacha’s pay-4-stay-5, for instance. Not a special; better.
When real specials do happen, this is what they look like
NWR and the private lodges do run genuine promotions from time to time — typically green-season campaigns or Namibian/SADC-resident offers, released to registered booking agents by email with hard validity dates. As an NTB-registered agent we receive them the day they exist. They are episodic, they end, and any page still advertising one from a past year is simply out of date — at the time of writing, at least one well-ranked Etosha site still advertises an NWR promotion whose booking window closed in 2021.

Are there any Etosha specials right now?
As of 31 August 2026: no — no NWR or private-lodge promotion is currently running for the Etosha area. The permanent savings (SADC gate rates, children’s rates, low-season pricing) are real and listed above; anything else you see advertised today deserves a hard look at its dates.
Does NWR ever run specials on the in-park camps?
Yes, episodically — typically green-season or resident-focused campaigns with fixed booking windows, distributed to registered agents. When one runs, it is genuine and worth acting on quickly; when it ends, it ends. We list live ones here the day we receive them.
Is the SADC rate a special?
Better — it is permanent. NAD 180 per adult per day instead of NAD 280 (and NAD 100 for SADC children 9–15) applies every day of every year to SADC passport holders, with rand accepted at the gate. No code, no window, no fine print.
When is Etosha cheapest?
November to April: room rates drop (NWR’s low-season card, most lodges’ shoulder rates), availability opens up, and the green season brings its own rewards — newborn game and spectacular skies — in exchange for more dispersed wildlife. The month-by-month guide shows the trade-offs honestly.
How does the notify list work?
You send one WhatsApp or email with your rough travel window; we store it; we message you only if a genuine, dated offer appears that could apply to you. No newsletter, no weekly anything — most months you will hear nothing, because most months there is nothing. That is the point.
