Onkoshi Resort sits on the northeastern edge of the Etosha Pan, 15 km from Namutoni Gate. Its elevated chalets extend over the pan on wooden decks, giving uninterrupted views across the salt flat — one of the few places in Etosha where you can watch wildlife from your room without leaving your deck.

Onkoshi is NWR’s most exclusive property. All 15 exclusive chalets are built on stilts above the pan, each with a private plunge pool, air conditioning, and floor-to-ceiling windows. The open-air bar and restaurant overlook the pan and are frequented by lion, elephant, and black rhino after dark. Night drives depart from the camp (bookable on arrival) and are the primary way to see predators active after gate-closing hours.

What makes Onkoshi different from other Etosha camps: No self-catering — all meals are served in the restaurant. The location on the northeastern pan edge gives access to Chudob, Klein Namutoni, and Tsumcor waterholes, which are productive year-round. The elevated deck architecture means photography from the room is genuinely viable during the dry season when animals come to the pan edge.

Best suited for: Photographers, couples, and travellers who want maximum comfort inside the park without sacrificing wildlife access. Not ideal for budget travellers or large family groups.

There are fourteen chalets and one Honeymoon chalet at Onkoshi Resort. This exclusive camp is perched on wooden structures. Onkoshi is a low-impact camp that runs mainly on solar power. Onkoshi offers Panoramic views over the Etosha pan. A swimming pool, a restaurant and a bar overlooking the Etosha Pans. The stars fill the vast open sky at night, allowing for sensational stargazing. Game drives offer spectacular access to the surrounding area. Morning and afternoon game drives provide excellent photographic opportunities.

Waterhole

Located within the surrounding area, there exists a natural water body that is known as a waterhole. This particular waterhole possesses a unique characteristic that makes it an ideal location for observing a variety of different animal species in their natural habitat.
