Etosha National Park

Located in the south of Etosha National Park, Okaukuejo is 17 km from Anderson Gate. It is the oldest tourist camp in Etosha and the administrative centre of the park. The tower at Okaukuejo provides a spectacular view of the surrounding bush. The Etosha Ecological Institute, responsible for the research and management of the Park, is situated here.

Okaukuejo offers a wide range of accommodations. Five waterhole chalets are premier double-storey units with a balcony overlooking the waterhole. Other accommodations include bush chalets, family chalets, double rooms and camping sites. The necessities include a petrol station and a shop. The restaurant and bar offer refreshments and meals. The swimming pool provides relief on hot days.

Okaukuejo Resort waterhole is floodlit at night. Wildlife congregate and interact early evenings, from lions to rhinos, elephants, antelope and the black rhino. The waterhole is a hub of animal activity starting in the early hours of the morning. During winter, a diversity of game congregates near the camp to quench their thirst. Throughout the day, herds of antelope pass through to drink. Lions have been known to wait under the surrounding trees.

Visitors can observe a spectacle of wildlife congregating and interacting at close quarters. A reduced disturbance enhances the waterhole experience in this area.
