Inside Etosha Park Lodges and Camps
All NWR Camps Inside Etosha National Park
Namibia Wildlife Resorts (NWR) operates five camps inside Etosha National Park, ranging from budget camping to luxury tented accommodation. Staying inside the park offers the critical advantage of unrestricted gate access — you can drive at sunrise without queueing at an entry gate, and stay at the waterholes after dark with no commute back to outside lodges.
Okaukuejo Camp
Western Etosha’s flagship camp, built around the most famous floodlit waterhole in Africa. Black rhino visit nightly; lion, elephant and spotted hyena are frequent after-dark visitors. The largest and best-equipped of the NWR camps.
- Location: 17 km from Anderson Gate
- Accommodation: Camping, bungalows, chalets, premier units (sleeping 2–8)
- Facilities: Restaurant, bar, shop, swimming pool, petrol station (camp compound only)
- Waterhole: Floodlit; open 24 hours; accessible from within camp
- Best for: First-time visitors, wildlife photographers, families
Halali Camp
Central park camp set in dense mopane woodland with a floodlit waterhole situated in a picturesque rocky kopje. More intimate than Okaukuejo; leopard sightings from the waterhole are more common here than anywhere else in the park.
- Location: Central Etosha, equidistant between gates
- Accommodation: Camping, bungalows, family units
- Facilities: Restaurant, bar, shop, swimming pool
- Waterhole: Floodlit; rocky setting; excellent leopard and rhino
- Best for: Repeat visitors, solo travellers, leopard seekers
Namutoni Camp
Eastern Etosha’s most distinctive camp, centred around a restored 19th-century German colonial fort. The fort creates an unrivalled atmosphere — sunset from the tower parapets with the pan visible in the distance is unforgettable. Closest camp to the productive eastern plains and Klein Namutoni waterhole.
- Location: 10 km from Von Lindequist Gate
- Accommodation: Camping, standard rooms, fort rooms
- Facilities: Restaurant, bar, shop, swimming pool
- Waterhole: Klein Namutoni (nearby; drive access)
- Best for: History lovers, eastern Etosha circuit, cheetah seekers
Onkoshi Camp
Etosha’s most exclusive NWR property — 15 luxury chalets built on stilts over the northeastern edge of the Etosha Pan. The views across the white salt pan are extraordinary, and the isolation is complete. Private game drives available. Meals included.
- Location: Northeast pan edge (road access via Namutoni)
- Accommodation: 15 luxury chalets on stilts (all-inclusive)
- Facilities: Restaurant, bar, pool, private game drives
- Best for: Luxury travel, special occasions, flamingo season
- Price: From NAD 4,500/person/night
Dolomite Camp
Exclusive camp in Etosha’s remote western section — an area inaccessible to self-drivers. Guided game drives are mandatory and reveal habitats and species rarely encountered in the busier central and eastern park. Desert-adapted lions, leopard, and black rhino are all more likely here than anywhere else.
- Location: Western Etosha (access via Galton Gate from Kamanjab)
- Accommodation: Luxury chalets (meals + guided drives included)
- Access: No self-driving in western section — guided only
- Best for: Serious wildlife enthusiasts, exclusivity seekers, returning visitors
- Price: From NAD 3,200/chalet/night
Olifantsrus Camp (Seasonal)
Small seasonal camp near the western zone, offering a more basic bush experience. Limited availability — check with NWR for current operational status.
